Our story

Eighteen years on the griddle.

A small storefront, a family recipe box, and a cook who never stopped showing up.

From Chihuahua to Main Street

The north comes to Noble County

Owner Jesus Granados grew up in Chihuahua, in Mexico's north — and in 2008 he brought that kitchen to a small storefront on Kendallville's Historic Main Street. Eighteen years later he's still there, on the griddle, every day.

When the Journal Gazette's dining critic drove up from Fort Wayne, he watched Granados work and wrote that "he moves like a conductor creating beautiful music on his grill" — and that Jeny's is "a great place that would be great no matter where it called home."

The menu hasn't chased trends in nearly two decades. It doesn't need to.

A lesson in real

"Authentic" depends where you're from

Ask Granados about onions and cilantro and you'll get a geography lesson: "People think onions and cilantro are the Mexican way… in the middle and north, we use lettuce and tomato. But, in Mexico, we don't use cheese."

  • Northern-style tacos — lettuce & tomato — are the house way
  • Traditional onion & cilantro? Just ask
  • Cheese optional: shredded American or white Chihuahua
  • Parmesan on the supremes — "because it is stronger… It gives it more flavor"

The little storefront

Small room, big following

Counter seats, a handful of tables, and a line of carry-out orders — the kind of place a town quietly decides it can't live without.
